Storyline

Ross Clarke-Jones and Tom Carroll still want the waves that most people would keep well away from. The two Australian surfers are old friends, now in middle age and with children. Storm Surfers 3D follows their pursuit of big surf in the Southern Ocean, where the appeal of another ride sits alongside the risks of going after it. They bring long careers to the water. Carroll is a two-time world champion, while Clarke-Jones is known for tow surfing. Sharing the film with them is Ben Matson; Toni Collette supplies the narration. This is a documentary about the surfers themselves, rather than actors recreating their lives. The friendship gives the expedition a personal scale, even when the ocean makes the people in it look very small.
