- Bruce Lee and James Coburn wrote the original story and planned to star in the movie.
- During filming, David Carradine sustained several injuries during the fight sequences, including two broken noses, a gouged toe, and a hurt knee.
- Bruce Lee met with Roman Polanski in Switzerland with the intention of having him direct the film.
- The movie was originally planned to be shot in 1969 with Bruce Lee playing multiple roles, and the lead role offered to Steve McQueen who turned it down. James Coburn later took the role of Cord.
