Storyline:   In the film, Julie Delpy and Tracy Letts portray Dina and Danny, a rigid, dissatisfied couple whose young son Remi (played by Keaton Nigel Cooke) is recovering from cancer. This theme is reflected in a later story. Remi is given the dachshund as a gift to lift his spirits. In a subsequent story, Dawn (played by Greta Gerwig), a veterinary assistant, believes that the dachshund could be the key to melting the heart of Brandon (played by Kieran Culkin), whom she knew from grade school as a notorious bully.

  1. At the January 2016 Sundance premiere, some audience members responded angrily to the film, and in response, a few festival reviewers deliberately revealed key plot points in order to discourage animal lovers from seeing it.
