The Crush Trivia
- When the movie was edited for TV, Alicia Silverstone's character's name changed from Darian Forrester to Adrian. This change was made because screenwriter and director Alan Shapiro had based the film on actual events that happened to him, and he ended up being sued by a girl who had the same name as his "fictional" character.
- The name Adrian was dubbed in for the TV version, and the dubbing was done by unknown actors. This was due to budget constraints, as the studio could not afford to bring back the original actors. As a result, there is slight voice differentiation, and some words preceding the name Adrian were also dubbed to create a more seamless voice transition.
- During the shooting of the film, Alicia Silverstone became an "emancipated minor" at the age of 15. This meant that she was legally independent and not a dependent of her parents. It allowed her to avoid child labor laws, which would have restricted the number of hours she could work on the film.
- "The Crush" marked Alicia Silverstone's feature debut. She won two MTV awards for her performance in the film, specifically for breakout performance and villain.
- All of Alicia Silverstone's nude scenes in the film were performed by a body double because she was underage at the time of filming.
- The film's theatrical release in 1993 retained Alicia Silverstone's original character name, Darian. However, the DVD and cable television versions were later dubbed and credited as Adrian. Earlier cable television airings used the name Darian.
- Two scenes that were filmed but deleted can be seen in the theatrical trailer. One scene shows Darian pulling the bed cover off a naked Nick and Amy while they are asleep, and the other scene is an extension of the pool scene between Nick and Darian.
- Kurtwood Smith was cast as Darian's father after Alan Shapiro saw him in the futuristic action thriller "Fortress" (1992).
- Reese Witherspoon was interviewed for the role of Darian Forrester but was ultimately not chosen for the role.
