- According to Zack Snyder, this version of "Justice League" does not include any shots that were filmed by Joss Whedon for the theatrical version of the film.
- Despite receiving credit as the director, Zack Snyder has never actually seen the theatrical cut of "Justice League" (2017). His wife Deborah Snyder and his friend and executive producer Christopher Nolan reportedly advised him not to watch it, as it would "break his heart."
- Victor Stone/Cyborg was originally intended to be the "heart of the movie" according to Zack and Deborah Snyder, but Joss Whedon controversially cut much of Cyborg's storyline for the theatrical version. This version restores Victor's plotline.
- In an interview, Deborah and Zack Snyder confirmed that the "Snyder Cut" of "Justice League" includes about five minutes of new scenes with actors and over 2,000 new visual effects shots.
- Ciaran Hinds's portrayal of Steppenwolf in this film is entirely redesigned from the version seen in the theatrical release of "Justice League." His voice is also more intimidating and distorted. According to Weta Digital's Simeon Duncombe and Anders Langlands, the Animation Supervisor and Visual Effects Supervisor for the film, they were essentially going back to Snyder's original vision with the "Snyder Cut," revisiting all elements that had been planned beforehand and restoring the original vision rather than creating something new. The "Snyder Cut" appearance of Steppenwolf was also hinted at in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" (2016).
- After the theatrical release of "Justice League" (2017), in which many fans and critics felt that the film did not accurately represent Zack Snyder's vision, the hashtag #ReleaseTheSnyderCut began to gain popularity on social media as a way to promote the possibility of a director's cut. Over the years, the "Release The Snyder Cut" movement has gained support from Warner Bros. executives and raised money for various charities related to suicide prevention and awareness. In May 2020, after a virtual watch party for "Man of Steel" (2013), Snyder officially announced the project with Henry Cavill.
