Storyline:   "A Tale of Two Cities" is a 1980 historical drama film based on the classic novel by Charles Dickens. The story is set in London and Paris during the late 18th century, against the backdrop of the French Revolution. The film tells the story of Charles Darnay (played by Chris Sarandon), a French aristocrat who renounces his family's wealth and privilege in order to support the French Revolution and fight for equality and justice. He moves to England and falls in love with Lucie Manette (played by Alice Krige), the daughter of a former French physician who was unjustly imprisoned in the Bastille.

As the French Revolution grows more violent and chaotic, Darnay is called back to France to help save an old family servant who has been wrongly accused of a crime. But Darnay's presence in France puts him at great risk, as he is targeted by the vengeful Madame Defarge (played by Judy Parfitt), a revolutionary who seeks to eliminate all remnants of the aristocracy. Meanwhile, Lucie and her father (played by Flora Robson) become embroiled in the political turmoil of the time, as they struggle to protect their loved ones and navigate the dangerous world of revolutionary France. "A Tale of Two Cities" is a sweeping epic that explores themes of love, sacrifice, and redemption against the backdrop of one of the most tumultuous periods in European history.
