- Jake Johnson and Joe Swanberg had previously collaborated on Drinking Buddies and Digging For Fire, both released in 2013 and 2015 respectively.
- Nick Kroll and Jenny Slate both made guest appearances on Parks and Recreation, which starred Aubrey Plaza.
- This was the second project that Jake Johnson and Jenny Slate worked on together, the first being Digging For Fire, which was written and directed by Joe Swanberg.
